More Than Just Saying His Name

I’ve been sitting with a hard truth lately — one that stings a little, but needs to be said:

Just because I claim His name doesn’t always mean I’m living by it.

Oof. That one hit close.

It’s easy to say “I’m a Christian.”
To post a Bible verse, wear the shirt, play the worship music, and say “God’s got me.”
But sometimes my attitude, my choices, my thoughts… don’t look much like Jesus at all.

That’s not me throwing stones — that’s me holding up a mirror.
Because I’ve been there.
Still find myself there more often than I’d like to admit.

But I’ve also seen it in others, too — folks who show up to church every Sunday, say all the right things, and put on a good show…
but still treat people ugly.
Still gossip.
Still carry bitterness.
Still refuse to love the way Jesus told us to.

Y’all — claiming His name isn’t a costume.
And if we wear His name, we better let Him change our hearts, not just our Sunday behavior.

“Everyone who names the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.”
— 2 Timothy 2:19

God doesn’t want lip service. He wants heart transformation.
And He’s so patient with us as we learn how to walk this thing out.

So today, I’m asking the Lord to help me live in a way that honors Him — not just on Sundays, not just online, but behind closed doors, in quiet moments, and in how I love the people around me.

I don’t want to just say I know Jesus.
I want people to see Him in me.
