Following Jesus in a Busy World
๐ Luke 9:23 โ โThen He said to them all: โWhoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.โโ
๐ Matthew 6:33 โ โBut seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.โ
Life gets busy, but following Jesus was never meant to fit into the margins of our schedule. Itโs the way we walk through every moment.
Life today seems to move faster than ever. Thereโs always something that pulls our attention and that causes stresses, like notifications, growing to-do lists, people needing you for different things, plans shifting. And in all that noise, following Jesus can feel like one more thing to fit into an already overflowing schedule.
But following Him isnโt something we add to our day. Itโs the way we live our day.
When Jesus said, โTake up your cross daily,โ He wasnโt talking about a quick checkbox before work or bedtime. He meant surrender - the kind that shifts our priorities, softens our hearts, and changes how we see the world. Itโs choosing humility when pride is easier. Grace over frustration and anger.
Matthew 6:33 is the secret to peace in a busy world: โSeek first His kingdom.โ Not after coffee. Not if thereโs time. First. When we put Him first, everything else begins to find its place. Our chaos finds calm. Our worries find rest. Our busyness finds purpose.
The world says โhurry.โ Jesus says โfollow.โ And those two paths donโt lead to the same place.
Following Jesus doesnโt mean we have to slow the world down - it just means we learn to walk (and talk) differently. Step by step, prayer by prayer, moment by moment.
๐ก Life Application:
Start your mornings by praying, โJesus, guide me today.โ Invite Him into your daily routine, before you even get out of bed. Thank Him for giving you another day and for giving you all of the small daily blessings that you might overlook.
๐ Key Takeaway:
The world says โhurry.โ Jesus says โfollow.โ And those two paths donโt lead to the same place.
